Caleb Lucas is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State. His research broadly focuses on how armed actors fighting in civil conflicts manage their relationships with civilians. He is particularly interested in their use of propaganda and its effect on attitudes. Caleb’s projects employ a variety of methods, including computational text analysis and machine learning. Bronson Hui is an SSDA associate and a third-year PhD student in Second Language Studies. He uses psycholinguistic methods to investigate second language processing and acquisition. His work, involving multilevel modeling, has been accepted for publication in Studies in Second Language Acquisition and Journal of Research Design and Statistics in Linguistics and Communication Science.
