Nan is a research scientist, currently working at Facebook. Nan holds a B.Sc. degree from Fudan University in Physics. He earned Computer Science Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University. His Ph.D. research focused on applying algorithms like Hidden Markov Model and neural networks to solve challenging problems in processing long erroneous DNA reads, such as protein homology search and error correction of sequencing errors.
